It's not about the money
– it's about following Jesus!

As followers of Jesus we believe it’s time to take back the conversation about our relationship with money and things. Jesus knew our culture would impact our love for money and stuff and the grip it would have on our thoughts and lives. So He taught plenty about it to help us understand and know how to manage this area of our lives.

Many of us have not given thought to the surrendering of our money and possessions to the Lord as an act of discipleship, recognizing it first all comes from Him and then allowing Him to lead and guide us to its overall use and purposes.

Living Counter-Culturally

Jesus demonstrated and calls us to live counter-culturally, seeing the world and people around us as He would see them. This gives us added insight into how we use our money and stuff, for not just ourselves, but for His kingdom. This will in turn touch the lives of others—and their dreams and hopes. But this is easier said than done!

Luke 16:13 describes the setting - “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.” Clearly there is a battle for our allegiance and what better way to prepare than to understand the battleground.

What is Mammon?

Mammon is an influence, power or evil spirit that tries to gain our trust rather than placing it in God. Simply said, it persuades us to trust in money, believing that if we had more or an endless supply, this would truly give us our sense of identity, security, significance, and peace.

Money is often a temptation, which at its very heart causes us to rely on it rather than on God as our source of contentment. As humans, we like or prefer what we can see and touch to what God promises and gives.

Encouraging you on your journey...

We are all on a financial discipleship journey. As we seek to learn and grow in understanding of God's Word in this area of our lives, our thinking, beliefs, habits and behaviours begin to change. The greater our understanding of His heart for us, the more we grow in our relationship with Jesus and the freer we are in our finances.

We invite you to join us on this journey of discovery that will be rewarding and life changing.
